Side chair

Starting from the structural language of Ming-dynasty chairs, the design focuses on the broad, embracing form of the upper backrest. Rather than simply replicating the traditional shape, its underlying structural logic was reinterpreted and translated into a form suited to contemporary materials and fabrication. The wide contact area that supports the back was rebuilt as a V-shaped frame, establishing a primary structural element that defines the chair’s character. The seat is woven in rattan, preserving the tactile quality and breathability of traditional furniture while introducing a light texture and visual openness to the overall structure.
