A chair only acquires its function when someone sits in it. Yet modern office chairs occupy the same volume at all times, regardless of use. The many features added for convenience have instead fixed their form, turning the chair into an object that simply 'remains in place.'
Reconsidering this contradiction, I sought to redefine how an office chair exists in a space by minimizing its volume when not in use and revealing its functions only when needed.
